SBS Modified Shingles
Legacy®, Ecoasis Premium™
, the Alaskan® , and Hip & Ridge shingles are manufactured with higher quality asphalt. The superior asphalt allows Malarkey to blend styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) polymers creating modified bitumen, rubberized asphalt. As the temperature fluctuates throughout the day, granules expand and contract.
SBS Rubberized asphalt allows for movement as the granules expand or contract with the change in temperature from hot to cold. The adhesive characteristics of SBS asphalt perform as a superior fastener, holding the granules in place. Malarkey’s SBS Rubberized modified products are specifically manufactured to retain granules on the shingles, exceeding the ASTM granule retention test up to 75 percent. The adhesive and cohesive properties of SBS polymerized shingle products are key to shingle longevity.
Legacy®, Ecoasis Premium™ ,and the Alaskan® shingles are UL 2218 Class 4 Impact Resistant and come with a 110 mph wind warranty (The Alaskan® 100 mph). Malarkey also offers an Enhanced Wind Warranty to 130 mph (The Alaskan® 120 mph) when installation conditions are met.
